In one of the realms of Altheim, in a version of Earth, in the largest country of the world — Rome, in one of its cities, a young man was walking through the market stalls. That day marked a significant event in his life: his father, Decius, had been appointed consul. For his father, it was a long-awaited opportunity to gain immense power and status, but for his son, it promised nothing good. His father had despised his third son from the moment he was born but had to tolerate him and pretend to be a loving father in public. With the attainment of the consul position, this necessity was gone. If Octomian chose to stay in his old home, he faced only two outcomes: death at the hands of assassins hired by his father or slavery. Realizing this, Octomian decided to flee first from his home, and then from the city. Gathering everything he needed for a long journey, he decided to walk through the market to stock up on provisions. Wandering from stall to stall, he thought about where he should...
